Rashtra Nirmata Samman [ 10th September, 2011 ]

“Rashtra Nirmata Samman avam Shreshtha Chhatra Samman 2010” was organized by Parivar Milan on 10th September 2011 at Bhartiya Bhasha Parishad.
Parivar Milan acknowledged the role of teachers in national and social development and also expressed their gratitude, respect and indebtedness towards them. Miss Mukta Nain of Birla High School (Boys) was adjudged the Best principal and was awarded the “Rashtra Nirmata Samman” in the form of a shawl, coconut, certificate, memento and cash prize of Rs. 15000. Miss. Mukta Nain, a pioneer of modern education system, considers herself to be a teacher first and then a Principal. Being the Principal of a school with 3000 students and contributing effectively to make it a renowned school in the city with her dedication, determination and fore-sightedness is her greatest achievement. She then expressed her views on the present education system and discipline in schools.

L.N. Birla Debate 2011 [ 9th July, 2011 ]

The Annual L.N. Birla debate was organized on 9th and 11th July. The preliminary round was held on 9th July in which 12 schools participated. The motion read "In the opinion of the house, euthanasia is justified and should be made legal. Six schools were selected for the finals held on 11th July, and they were joined by Birla High School for Boys and Girls. The motion for the finals was rather challenging" In the opinion of the house, the anti-corruption movement led by Anna is a façade "The debate was graced by academicians and eminent personalities like Sanjay Wadhwani, OBE, British Deputy High Commissioner, Eastern India, Chief Guest, Dr. Krishna Sen, Chairperson and the three judges Mr. S.V. Raman, Anchita Ghatak and Anil Mukherjee. La Martiniere for boys bagged the trophy for best speaker and best team.

Career Counselling 2011 [ 23rd June, 2011 ]

As you are aware the Career Counselling Programme 2011 was held on the 23rd & 24th of July at Vidya Mandir Auditorium which was attended by a large no. of the senior students of class X & XII of Birla High School and many of our Alumni members.
It was a very helpful session for the students and assisted them towards making the right career choice with a clearer perspective. We were fortunate to have excellent speakers on both days.
This year as per the students wishes we had decided to have more speakers on non conventional career options.
We started the session with a talk on how to study in USA and the various ways and means to get admission. Second speaker Ms. Oindrilla Dutt spoke on a continuously diversifying career, event management. Third speaker was Mr. Rahul Maheshwari who spoke on photography, which is a vast subject and is an interesting career. First days’ session was concluded by Mr. S Jain, a successful entrepreneur who is also a Chartered Accountant.
The next day was started by Mr. Rishad Medora who spoke on the very intriguing topic of Cyber Law, who was followed by Mr. Shyamal Dutta who is aretired IPS officer and a former Governor, who enlightened the students about the Police Service and unexpectedly had a long interactive session. Our next speaker was Dr. Partho Ghosh who spoke on the field of research. Mr. Amit Sen ended the event speaking on Sports Management.

Musical Evening 2011 [ 21st May, 2011 ]

BHSA Musical evening was inaugurated with honoring our Chairperson Ms. Mukta Nain for her victory in the Aparajita Awards. Past President of BHSA were also felicitated.
The music of Francis Lepcha was well liked and members too sang and danced to their hearts content.
It was attended by over 200 members and the evening was a grand success.
